Periodically, manufacturers seek to re-invent their products for the purpose of increasing sales. Placed conspicuously on the packaging are the words (often in bold red lettering) ‘NEW AND IMPROVED’ while the sub-print seeks to validate the claim by boasting to be thicker, richer, sweeter, etc.. Perhaps we can anticipate a future promotion when ‘Ivory Soap’ will tout: ”NEW AND IMPRORVED – Now 100% Pure!”
These musings led me to ponder a related question: Will God’s love and grace toward mankind ever be ‘new and improved’? God truly gave His best when He sent His beloved and sinless Son to purchase our redemption with His very own blood. How does one improve on such perfection?
When the Holy Spirit awakens us to this awesome reality it all seems so ‘new’ and brings immediate ‘improvement’ to our lives. We become a ‘new’ creation and the ‘improvement’ is evident for all to see. Each day, as the Holy Spirit works to transform us into Christ’s image, we can honestly confess to becoming ‘new and improved’ to which the fruits of the Spirit will certainly attest.
Dear Lord,
Please infuse your children with NEW love and cause us to embrace your righteousness as we aspire to become more like you. IMPROVE us daily we pray. In the name of thy 100% perfect Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
